As I’m sure you all know, Putin launched attacks against Ukraine, with the stated goal of “demilitarizing” the country, and “protect” separatist regions, obviously lies. He intends to take control of Ukraine, and all it’s resources.
Early in February 2022 Putin and Chinese president Xi Jinping signed agreements increasing exports of oil and gas from Russia to China, and agreeing to a ”strategic partnership.”
“Following a summit at the opening of the Winter Olympics in Beijing, Xi and Putin issued a joint statement on Feb. 4, criticizing the “negative” U.S. influence both in Europe and across the Asia-Pacific. They also said they would be deepening a “no limits” strategic partnership, while opposing “the further expansion of NATO” in what they deemed a “Cold War era” approach.”
Trump‘s trade war with China was a factor, as were right wing isolationist policies.
Putin wants to take back Eastern Europe and oppose NATO expansion, he already has allies in autocratic Belarus and Hungary.
Ukraine was called the “breadbasket of Europe” and according to a CIA report, produced 25% of grain grown in the Soviet Union, has agricultural and other industries, oil and gas, and other resources.
Jinping wants a new “Silk Road” connecting China, Asia and Europe, as well as Africa.
There’s a religious factor involved, Putin and the Russian Orthodox Church.
There are outside pseudo religious influences involved in Russia and other countries. The World Congress of Families is a U.S. coalition created to spread religious right interests all over the world, not limited to their anti-LGBT rhetoric and propaganda.
